Libya confirms death of army Chief of Staff in airplane crash

(MENAFN) Libya’s Tripoli-based administration, led by Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, confirmed the death of Army Chief of Staff Mohammed al-Haddad in a plane crash near Ankara, Turkey.

In an official statement, the government described the incident as “a tragic loss to the nation, the military establishment, and all the people.” It added: “We have lost men who served their country with sincerity and dedication and were an example of discipline, responsibility, and national commitment.”

Turkish authorities earlier reported that the wreckage of the Falcon 50 aircraft, which had been traveling from Ankara to Tripoli, was located south of Haymana, near the Turkish capital.
